Repost: Revit 2010 and Windows 7 (Source Link)

Apparently, Revit 2010 works fine on the Beta versions of Windows 7.  This is good news.

But will it "Really Work?!"

I heard that Windows 7, is suppose to make all of your programs run more efficiently - or at the very least - better.

Is this True?

Yes, as far as I understand, this is true.  Apparently, it's like the best combination of Windows Vista and Windows XP.  I have heard others run Revit on Windows 7 just fine, but currently, Autodesk is not doing any support requests with those doing that.  I am sure that Revit 2011 will support Windows 7.

I installed Revit 2010 x64 successfully on Windows 7 Pro x64.  Everything seems to work fine.

I'm having problems with text edition! It appears that the riched20.dll file from Windows system is causing the problem...any idea why???

I guess you are refering to Revit 2010 running on Windows 7?  I have never had Revit tell what .dll file could be causing a crash, so if you could post a screenshot or elaborate, that would help.

My best guess would be to unistall Revit, shutdown the computer and reinstall.  I haven't ever had a problem with Revit 2010 on Windows 7 so far.

Feel free to continue posting, and am always glad to help : )

Ok...This is the warning that Revit shows each time I try to edit or place a new text.

I've reinstall the software several times but I'm still getting this message.
The software I'm using is the Revit Architecture 2010 trial version from Autodesk's official home page....

Hi again, thanks for the clarification.

Okay, first of all, looks like you are using a Spanish version...I would assume all things are equal, but they might not be.  I installed a non-student version on a Windows 7 machine at work and everything works fine.

I would try reinstalling the program and see if that fixes it.  Let me know if it does...If it doesn't, we can try some other things.

Hi,

sorry I missed the part where you said you had installed the software several times.

Have you tried downloading the Service Packs and installing them?

Spanish Version

English Version

You need to download Service Pack 2.  This is a small download and might fix your problem.  It should include service pack 1 and all previous hot fixes.

This might fix your problem.  Let me know what happens.

The reason I am tyring to get all the particulars is because "technically" Revit 2010 is NOT supported according to Autodesk on Windows 7, even though it is working for most.

I am not sure why it wouldn't be working for you.

Only other thing I can think to tell you to try is to right click on your Revit Shortcut icon on your desktop and go to properties.

Under the compatibility tab, try Running the program in compatibility for Windows XP for Windows Vista and see if it works that way.

Another thing you can try is to "run this program as administrator" if you have those privledges (not sure if it's your personal computer or a school or work computer).

Let me know if either of those work for you.  Sorry you are having problems.
