View Range issues

I have a building with 4 levels, 2 below ground, 2 above.  At the top of each level are either beams or joists supporting the floor (or roof) above it.  About 6'9" down from the T/Steel, I have the T/doors and windows, with CMU above and to the sides of them.

I am trying to create floor plans that show the outlines of the CMU walls, but with the windows/doors shown within the walls, so that I can draw the lintels, and the CMU in the correct place.  I have the architectural model linked into my structural model and am using cuts through the architectural model as my back grounds.  I have tried cutting right at the T/ Steel and setting the bottom of my view range to intersect the doors/windows.  I have tried cutting the doors/windows and setting the top of the view range at the top of the steel.  Nothing seems to be working.  I either get just windows and no walls or steel, or I get steel and CMU wall and no windows.  I have found a few ways on other forums that might work, but they are very complicated and convoluted.  Does anybody have a simpler solution?

Thanks

Hi,

Did you find an solution to this?  I have some ideas, but since it has been a while since you made the post, I would be interested to know if you found a solution...

Any chance you could post the revit file you are working with...I would be happy to take a look if you haven't already figured this out...if you have, what was the problem?

Well for that particular project, I ended up just using one complete wall and not putting actual lintels in but instead, just put a masking region over the area where the lintel needed to go and just used detail lines to draw the lintel.

The problem I think is that for architectural, it shows everything above where you cut, where as for structural, it shows everything below (or the opposite...I've been back to autoCAD projects for a few weeks).  But so I wasn't able to find any sort of middle ground where it would show the arch that I needed and the steel that I needed because it was showing two different directions.

I haven't had that particular situation since, but since then I've discovered the Plan Region Tool, where you can change the cut region for just a particular area.  I haven't tried using it in that situation, but I think it might be the best solution.

Let me know if you come up with anything better or easier!
