Balusters
I have used the railing command to place a custom handrail and balusters on a ramp, but cannot figure out how to adjust the angle of the balusters. I basically want to adjust the angle of the balusters to run perpendicular to the angle of the ramp. I tried Element Properties > Instance Properties > Edit Type > Baluster Placement, but didn't see anything that allows me to change the baluster placement angle. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Any chance you could post your custom Baluster file for me to take a look?  Only thing I can think is that it's something wrong with the way your baluster family is set up.

Also, if you can post a screen shot of what it looks like in 3D on your ramp, that would be helpful as well.

You should be able to edit your original entry and add the attachments using the attachments tab.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Hi again, just wanted to check up and see if you had figured this out?

I have done this before, even though the end conditions can be tricky if you want them angled as well.

The angle is controlled in the baluster family itself.

What you need to do is make or download a custom baluster family that has a control for "angle."  You can, at that point, constrain the baluster to automatically be 90 degrees to the angle of the stair or ramp, all within the family.  Probably the easiest way to do this is to building the baluster you want in a generic model family, and then nest that into your baluster family and constrain it to reference line or plane that you have controlling the angle.

I will try to find one I did a while back and post it in the morning as an example.

Hi again, attached is a project file with a stair and the angled balusters.  You should be able to extract the baluster family and use it and/or look at it to start your own.

Looking back on this, I was in a hurry when I made this.  As I previously mentioned, the better method of making this family would probably be to nest a generic model family into the file, and constrain it to a reference plane that you can control the angle of separately from the angle of the stair/ramp/host object (which is how I constrained mine).

You'll notice in my example that I also tried to create a mesh look, which wasn't too successful honestly.  I actually ended up just using a model fill region for this in my stair section.  The end conditions are also tricky as I previously mentioned, as you really have to create a custom start and end post.

I would be happy to try and answer any other questions you have, so please don't hesitate to ask.
