Video Card Problem

I would like to ask you guys if you have any idea on this problem I'm encountering with my laptop. Lately, everytime I open my Revit Architecture 2011 this pop-up always occur "Some features may not be fully supported by the video card and driver of this computer. Problem: Unknown Video Card".

Additionally,  I noticed that my renderings is so slow and lots of crushes occurs. And it would take time to insert some objects or building parts on my design lately. Before, it did not happen to this laptop, so I'm wondering if I damaged my video card through constant renderings. I had already restored my laptop to original/factory settings and reinstalled Revit Architecture 2011 but the problem still exists. I made also updates on my video card driver but it didn't help.

Laptop Specs:       HP Pavilion dv7-3085dx Notebook

                                             Windows 7 (64-bit)

                                             6GB RAM

                                             Intel Core(TM) i7 CPU Q720 @ 1.60GHz

nvidia GeForce GT 230M (plus CUDA) video card

Thank You,

bleupunk

Check this list:

http://www.autodesk.com/us/revit/revit_graphics_hardware_-_graphics_hardware_list_final.html

I didn't see your card listed in the link, however, verifying that you have the latest graphics card driver may help.  You have to be careful though, as sometimes HP has a special driver for that laptop that they have tweaked outside of the standard nvidia driver (usually to keep the laptop running cool enough or something).

Honestly, best I can tell, that video card is not going to be very good for running 3D views in Revit.  If you were intending to do a lot of Revit on that laptop, I would see about upgrading the video card (which you usually cannot do on a laptop).  Sorry for the bad news.

On an up note, you can still run Revit.  It opens, etc., just slow.

Hmmm...I reread your post after writing the above, and it's interesting you say it "didn't happen before."  Renderings being slower is going to be primarly related to the CPU, not the graphics card.  Revit doesn't really use the graphics card for anything but regenerating live views in the model, and it doesn't really use any of the graphics card for rendering.

That being said, is there any chance you changed any of the BIOS settings for your CPU?  for example, turning turbo mode on or off, or anything else like that?

Yeah you are right, most likely my CPU has something to do with it. Thank you so much for your valuable advise sir, I will do that!

More power...
