Sloping Garage Footings @ Slabs!!!  

Is there a way you can slope a foundation and keep the footing attached? 

I have to appolage, I did not explain exactly what I'm doing.  I am using Revit Architecture 12 and have a garage slab that needs to be recessed 2" below the finished floor and slope 1/8" per. ft. from rear to front.  I also have a 12"x12" footing joined to the slab but when I place the slope on the foundation it unjoines the footing from the foundation slab.  The footing on the sides seam to stay joind but the footings, front and back unjoin.  I need to know if there's a way to slope the slab while keeping all the footing attached.

Not sure what you mean. Generally, the perimeter of the garage consists of concrete stem walls on continuous footings (except for the break at the garage door where a thickened slab edge is used) or a slab on grade with a thickened edge at the perimeter. In the former case, the footings & stem walls are independent of the slab; in the latter case, the thickened slab edge is hosted by the slab so it will slope with the floor.

Remember that the bottoms of footings want to be as horizontal as possible, otherwise the bearing pressure can cause the footing to slide downhill, tobogan style.

Where you need to step footings on a hillside, use the 3d view and import or create the topo surface condition...then in 3d view, click on cut (wall surface) to maintain the top distance to grade (8" in most locals now)...and cut as the top of the footing gets too high above grade (use your judgement here). You can then grab the highlighted grips and pull the tops of the individual cut pieces up or down to meet the above mentioned heigth above grade piece by piece....you can then click on each piece and set its bottom heigth to be the required depth into grade at the lowest end....this also works well for setting retaining wall top and bottom of wall heigths on sloping grades.

 2)  Each Entry must have an assigned Category and EntryType.  Not all categories have subcategories, but if the category you pick has subcategories, please pick the most appropriate for your entry.

 3)  Only registered, logged-in users have the privledges to create posts, reply to posts, and view attachments of posts.  Registration is free, and like any other forum, is our way of increasing forum functionality and security.

 4)  As a registered user, you will also have the ability to subscribe to threads individually, rate them, and view a list of your posts.  You can also edit posts that you have made.  Also, as a registered user at Revitinfo, you automatically are signed up to recieve emails any time a new post or reply to existing post is made. You can change this setting while logged in uder your User Profile by clicking on your user name at the top right of any page, next to the Date. Once you get here, click on the "Edit Profile" button below your Quick Profile Information. Finally, select "Manage Profile to change your profile Settings.

 5)  Soon, there will be a way for users to request other categories/SubCategories via a request form.  Currently, for our system to work the way it has been designed, the category and subcategories as well as EntryTypes must remain a standard for all users of the site, in order to make searching/browsing information faster and easier.
