Draw a vertical Duct (Pre-Revit 2010)  

To create a vertical duct, draw a part of duct horizontal in plan, go into a section or elevation view, and rotate it to be vertical. From here, you can go back into plan, located where the duct should be, and go into 3D (or another view) which will allow you to connect the duct to another piece of duct or equipment.
