There are two types of Fill Paterns - "Drafting" and "Model." Drafting fill patterns are for generic hatching to represent amaterial, object, etc. They have no relationship to an actual "scaled pattern." Model fill patterns are for creating realworld scale patterns. For example, Model fill patterns are assigned to "surface pattern" of material that will be shown inelevation and model views (materials are definied in "Materials" dialogue box that can be found on the "settings" menu;"fill patterns" is located in the same menu one line above materials). The "Cut Pattern" of a material corresponds to a"drafting fill pattern" that is some industry standard hatch pattern to represent the material being cut in plan or section(for example, CMU is ussually some kind of diagonal crosshatch).
